Over 140 arrests in massive California child sex crimes sweep

(The AEGIS Alliance) – In a period of only 7 days in California, agents with law enforcement apprehended 141 individuals during an extensive clampdown on child sex predators, authorities revealed on Wednesday.

The operation, referred to as “Protect the Innocent,” entailed 64 agencies throughout 5 California counties.

“The goal of Operation Protect the Innocent was to conduct investigations and arrests by utilizing (CyberTips) received, identifying suspects for arrest, and contacting individuals on probation and/or parole,” the Los Angeles Police Department pointed out in a press release.

Starting on September 6 and through to September 12, Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children members task force got in touch with and determined the identities of hundreds of individuals that are either signed up as sex offenders or recognized as being suspects wanted for their arrests.

Warrants were fulfilled at houses in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Ventura as well as Santa Barbara counties, leading to 141 apprehensions.

Included in the arrests were 110 for child porn-related charges. Others consisted of sex abuse of kids, statutory rape, pimping, and also parole violations.
