Los Angeles Pastor Charged With Child Sex Crimes Against Multiple Victims Over Six-Years

(The AEGIS Alliance) – HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CALIFORNIA A pastor from Hacienda Heights is charged with sexually abusing multiple underage victims after a woman came forward and said he sexually assaulted her repeatedly in her home when she was a child, the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department said on Wednesday.

On January 9, 2020, a woman reported that when she was between the ages of 12 and 18, Jonathan Tsai, her former youth pastor, sexually assaulted her while visiting her home. The woman’s family was close to the suspect and his family. The sexual abuse allegedly continued for about six years, the sheriffs said.

Detectives with the County Special Victims Bureau identified two additional women who also reported the suspect’s sexual assaults while they were underage, the department said.

Tsai is the current head pastor at the Abundant Life Ministries Church. He was placed under arrest on July 21 at his home and booked into jail on a $1,400,000 bond. Tsai posted bail on July 24 and was released.

The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office filed four counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 years of age; one count of oral copulation of a child under 16-years-old; and one count of sexual penetration of a child under 16 Investigators believe there could be more victims.

The West Covina Police Department is also investigating Jonathan Tsai for cases of sexual assault that happened in West Covina city, the sheriff’s department said.
