Former Houston Police sergeant sentenced to 40 years for murdering wife

(The AEGIS Alliance) – A former Houston Police Department sergeant had been handed down a 40-year sentence behind bars on June 25, a Friday, for the 2019 shooting death of his wife, according to KTRK-TV.

The Houston Chronicle reports that police officers who work for the Pearland Police Department arrived at the 1900 block of Canyon Creek Court on March 23 of 2019 on a police call after a relative discovered Belinda Hernandez, a librarian at Shadycrest Elementary School, dead on the floor of her home kitchen.

Hilario Ramos Hernandez had been placed under arrest hours afterward nearby in Kingsville, Texas, which is located southwest of Corpus Christi.

KTRK reported back then that Hilario Hernandez was put on administrative leave from the Houston Police Department with no pay following his apprehension. Hernandez purportedly worked for the department for over three decades.

The Houston Chronicle reported in 2019 that the evening prior to Belinda being discovered lifeless, Belinda and Hilario’s daughter, her husband, and also a friend of the family were eating dinner at the Hernandezes’ residence. Hilario ended up being distressed over “perceived flirting” between Belinda and the friend of the family.

Hernandez’s daughter apparently texted Belinda, later on, but ended up being worried when Belinda didn’t give her a response. The daughter apparently phoned Belinda’s mobile phone, Hilario answered the call and stated she was “fine,” then afterward he ended the call. The daughter visited her mom and dad’s home the following day, and found Belinda in the kitchen, according to the Chronicle.

Cops discovered a handgun on a counter in the kitchen and also bullet shell casings in the kitchen area. Hilario Ramos Hernandez could end up spending the rest of his life in prison by the time his sentence is completed.
