Florida Man Tried to Escape Police Underwater, Gets Arrested After Coming Up for Air

SUWANEE COUNTY, FLORIDA A Florida Man tried to elude police with a “not so great escape” last week after he attempted to hide from authorities in a pond, hiding underwater. Deputies easily thwarted the man’s action movie stunt after he surfaced for a breath of air, police said.

36-year-old Daniel Christopher Booth was wanted in Baker County for arrest warrants involving the sale of methamphetamine, according to a Facebook post on Wednesday by the Suwanee County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that when a deputy tried to arrest Mr. Booth while he was working his job at a solar power plant, the man ran away and took a dive into a nearby pond.

“Now we can only assume that Mr. Booth has seen one too many action movies and thought he could hide from the K9 teams, from Suwannee CI and Mayo CI by hiding under the water in a pond,” the post says.

Booth was quickly spotted by sheriff’s deputies after he surfaced to get a fresh breath of air and officers made the arrest.

Booth was still “soaking wet” when he was transported to the Suwanee County Jail, the sheriff’s office added humorous hashtags into the post that included “#NotRambo.”

Daniel Christopher Booth is facing additional charges for his not so well thought out escape plan attempt.

Users on social media made comments on the sheriff’s post and some pointed out the obvious flaws in Booth’s escape plan.

One user joked and wrote, “The good action movies show that you need to hollow out a reed to breathe through.”

Another jokingly pointed out that, “Clearly he forgot to grab a bamboo shoot to breathe through while he waited. He needs to watch more cartoons.”
