Naked man breaks into Bel Air home, kills family’s pet birds

(The AEGIS Alliance) – Security camera footage caught a homeless guy burglarizing a house in California, walking around completely naked, and also purportedly killing a pair of pet parakeets.

The burglary occurred on Thursday mid-day in the Bel-Air area of Los Angeles, local area news station ABC7 initially reported on Saturday. The suspect, age 34, has been identified by the Los Angeles Police Department as being a man named Paul Kiyan, who was caught on video recording as he strolled around the house with no clothes on while one family member had been upstairs. He apparently gained access to the inside of the property by using a garage door opener he discovered in an automobile that had been left unlocked.

Kiyan could be observed in the video putting on the homeowner’s swimming trunks, entering the swimming pool, and strolling around in the backyard. When he went into the house, the man looked to be wearing a towel as he roamed through the living room and home kitchen. The owner of the property, Matt Sabz, had been upstairs and alone during that time, yet was actually alerted by his wife that had the ability to monitor the burglar remotely via the security video cameras.

“I went to the room, closed the door. I didn’t know what else to do, so I went to the balcony,” Sabz informed ABC 7. “I opened the balcony. I jumped out of the balcony to my car barefoot. I ran and called the police.”

Through the home security system, Sabz’s spouse managed to notify the trespasser that the cops had been contacted. But the guy headed to the birdcage and then apparently killed the family members’ pair of parakeets. In the video recording, Kiyan is shown throwing them to the floor and stomping on them.

“He went to the birdcage and violently grabbed our kids’ birds and threw them on the floor and stomped on them,” Sabz stated. “My kids were the ones who found their dead birds with broken necks inside the house.” Sabz stated the occurrence was “extremely traumatizing” for him and also for his family members, although the others weren’t at the house at that time.

The LAPD arrested and jailed the man who is facing burglary charges in addition to charges of animal cruelty.

The criminal incident in Bel Air is similar to a case that took place in Florida back in June of 2019. 25-year-old John Mehne crashed a stolen vehicle and afterward took off running from the scene on the back of a pickup truck that was driving by. He was located completely naked and hiding in a chicken coop after apparently killing a pet dog.

“He was in the run of the chicken coop, totally naked, covered with mud and he was chasing the chickens. It was totally bizarre,” an eyewitness stated of Mehne back then.
