NYC straphanger arrested after groping woman, breaking her nose and yelling anti-LGBTQ slurs

According to authorities, a male individual was apprehended for inappropriately touching an unknown person on a train in Brooklyn during daylight hours. Furthermore, he proceeded to launch verbal attacks containing homophobic remarks toward the victim and physically assaulted her, resulting in a severe injury to her nose.

According to authorities, a man named Ian Williams, aged 22, was apprehended on Sunday for committing forcible touching, assault, and sexual abuse during an incident on a J train in Bushwick last Thursday.

Police said that Williams allegedly touched the buttocks of a 22-year-old woman on the southbound platform at Broadway and Myrtle Avenue in Bushwick around 1:15 p.m.

According to authorities, an altercation erupted between the duo upon boarding a train after the unsolicited interaction.

According to authorities, Williams menaced the woman, directed derogatory comments about LGBTQ individuals toward her, and repeatedly struck her in the face and body, resulting in a broken nose.

According to authorities, he disembarked the train at the Delancey and Essex street station in the Lower East Side.

In an effort to locate the suspect, investigators released an image on Saturday showing him dressed in an orange athletic outfit. The photo was made public by the NYPD.

According to authorities, the injured victim woman sought medical care at a nearby medical facility on her own.

Authorities stated that while the incident was reported to the Hate Crime Task Force of the NYPD, Williams did not initially confront any hate crime accusations.

The method by which law enforcement located the individual, who is currently anticipating a court hearing, remains uncertain.
