Santa Ana, California Police Arrest Attempted Kidnapping, Sexual Assault Suspect Involving 15-year-old Girl
(The AEGIS Alliance) – SANTA ANA, CALIFORNIA – A man suspected of attempting to sexually assault and kidnap a 15-year-old girl in Santa Ana, California was placed under arrest, officials announced on Tuesday.
28-year-old Kevin Steven Brito was taken into police custody on Monday after an investigation into the incident that happened on July 30, the Santa Ana Police Department said in a press release.
Investigators released surveillance images of Brito’s SUV on Friday, hoping to generate leads.
Detectives said Brito attempted to kidnap the girl on North Ross Street in the 800 blocks, which has several public buildings in it, including the Santa Ana City Hall and Public Library.
It’s alleged that Brito made inappropriate comments and offered the teen girl money in exchange for sex.
The girl ignored Brito and kept walking down the street, but Brito followed the girl and came up from behind her and grabbed her, he sexually battered her, then wrapped her into his arms and lifted her up from the ground, police said. The girl broke free and ran away.
Brito was spotted leaving the scene in a white SUV, that looks to be a Hyundai Tucson.
Santa Ana police released a video on Monday that shows Brito being put in handcuffs and then he is placed into a police vehicle.
Brito posted a $100,000 bail later on Monday and was released. Brito is awaiting trial.
