Tesla in flames after ‘spontaneously’ catching on fire on California highway

(The AEGIS Alliance) – According to the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, a Tesla vehicle caught fire due to spontaneous combustion of the battery compartment on Highway 50, as stated in a tweet.

Firefighters in Sacramento, California utilized 6,000 gallons of water to extinguish the blaze that damaged a Tesla Model S.

Officials stated that the Tesla was in motion at highway speeds when the fire erupted. Pictures from the location depict the front portion of the car with severe destruction.

No casualties were reported from the event.

The fire department worked to put out the fire on the eastbound side of Highway 50 near Sunrise Boulevard in Rancho Cordova, on the side of the road.

Firefighters utilized 2 fire trucks, a water tender, and a ladder truck to douse the flames. They employed car jacks to extinguish the fire below the car.

Officials explained that the substantial volume of water used was because the Tesla’s battery cells continued to catch fire. The occurrence took place around 3:41 p.m. on January 28, 2023.
