Santa Ana man arrested for strangulation, attempted sexual assault of teen
(The AEGIS Alliance) – An age 23 male suspect was apprehended by the Santa Ana Police Department who is believed to be the individual that strangled and attempted to sexually assault a teenage girl prior to a passerby intervening to help her. Authorities are asking anybody who has relevant details concerning other possible victims to please contact them.
Eric Yiovani Oliveros-Chavez exited an OCTA bus on Thursday not long after midnight and assaulted a 19-year-old female passenger while she was strolling back to her home, cops pointed out in a press release.
Investigators examined the bus to find out if the purported assaulter would show up once more. Then on Friday, Oliveros-Chavez was located on the bus dawning the exact same black Raiders hat, authorities stated.
When the suspect exited the bus and walked onto the 600 block of South Harbor Boulevard, he was apprehended by police, and also investigators “obtained additional evidence that identified Oliveros-Chavez as the suspect in this case.”
“It is through our detectives’ diligent, persistent and traditional investigative efforts that this suspect was apprehended within 48 hours of this violent crime. We remain steadfast in our core mission of responding to incidents that threaten the safety of the community we serve,” Police Chief David Valentin pointed out.
Oliveros-Chavez was put behind bars at the Orange County Jail and is facing charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, as well as assault with the intent to commit a sexual act. He is currentl jailed with a $1 million bond.
