6 inmates escape from California county jail using homemade rope to scale down jail walls
(The AEGIS Alliance) – Six inmates have escaped from Merced County Downtown Jail in California, officials from the Merced County Sheriff’s Office announced on Sunday afternoon.
Jail employees found the inmates were nowhere to be found at about midnight. A preliminary investigation discovered that they gained access to the roof of the county jail and used a makeshift rope to scale down the outside walls of the jail.
The Merced County Sheriff’s Office assembled a task force to locate and apprehend the escaped fugitives. Anyone with information or anybody who spots any of the suspects is asked to not approach them and to dial 911 immediately.
The sheriff’s department will provide an update when more details become available.
The inmates are wanted by the Merced County Sheriff’s Office for escaping and are considered to be armed and dangerous.
Jorge Barron, age 20, is a Hispanic male from Atwater, California, who is charged with violating probation. Barron is 5 feet, 5 inches and weighs 140 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
Gabriel Francis Coronado, age 19, is a Hispanic male from Atwater, California, who is charged with attempted murder, shooting a firearm into an inhabited dwelling, being in a criminal street gang, possession of a firearm, and violating probation. Coronado is 5 feet, 10 inches and weighs 225 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Manuel Allen Leon, age 21, is a Hispanic male from Vallejo, California, who is charged with assault with a firearm, shooting a firearm into an inhabited dwelling, evading police, reckless driving, being in a criminal street gang, and carrying a loaded firearm. Leon is 5 feet, 10 inches, and weighs 165 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Andres Nunez Rodriguez Jr., age 21, is a Hispanic male from Planada, California, who is charged with attempted murder, shooting a firearm into an inhabited dwelling, being in a criminal street gang, and possession of a firearm. Rodriguez Jr. is 5 feet, 7 inches, and weighs 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Fabian Cruz Roman, age 22, is a Hispanic male from Los Banos, California, who is charged with committing murder. Roman is 5 feet, 6 inches, and weighs 145 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
Edgar Eduardo Ventura, age 22, is a Hispanic male from Portland Oregon, who is charged with possession of a firearm, being in a criminal street gang, and violating probation. Ventura is 5 feet, 11 inches, and weighs 129 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes.
