707 years in prison for California ‘monster’ nanny who molested 16 young boys

In a chilling display of depravity, a California male nanny who prided himself on bringing smiles to the faces of children was sentenced to over 700 years in prison for sexually assaulting 16 young boys under his care. Matthew Zakrzewski, 34, was found guilty of 34 felony counts, including lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14, for his heinous abuse of children.

Between January 2014 and May 2019, Zakrzewski preyed upon his innocent victims, ranging in age from 2 to 12, exploiting their trust and shattering their childhoods. His despicable crimes came to light when a parent reported him to the police for inappropriately touching her son. This led to the uncovering of a web of abuse, with 10 more victims identified across Southern California.

Zakrzewski, who advertised himself as the “original Sitter Buddy” on his website, offered a variety of services, including babysitting, mentoring, and overnight and vacation care. His deceptive persona and charming demeanor masked a sinister predator who took advantage of the vulnerability of his charges.

At the sentencing hearing, Zakrzewski expressed a disturbing sense of pride in his ability to manipulate and exploit his victims. “I prided myself on bringing smiles to your children and all the good times we shared were 100 percent genuine,” he declared before receiving his fate from Orange County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Menninger.

Family members of the abused children voiced their outrage and anguish, condemning Zakrzewski as a “master manipulator” and an “animal” who deserved no mercy. They expressed guilt and remorse for entrusting their children to this monster, forever haunted by the knowledge of the harm he inflicted.

“This is a case of shattered innocence and precious childhoods that were robbed from 17 little boys,” remarked Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “These children will never know the people they were truly intended to be – because their childhoods were suddenly and inexplicably interrupted not by a wolf at the door, but by a predator masquerading as a godsend,” ABC 7 reported.

In a chilling discovery, prosecutors revealed that Zakrzewski possessed an “entire book” on pedophilia on his computer and had videotaped most of the evidence used against him. This disturbing revelation further underscores the depths of his depravity and the calculated nature of his crimes.

Zakrzewski’s conviction serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that can lurk within our communities, disguised as trusted figures. It is a call to vigilance, to remain alert for signs of abuse, and to never hesitate to speak up if something feels wrong. The safety of our children must remain our paramount concern, and we must collectively work to protect them from predators like Matthew Zakrzewski.
