(The AEGIS Alliance) – After spending almost 21 years in prison, a man from Michigan was released after prosecutors admitted that the double murder he was jailed for could have been the work of a serial killer. Jeff Titus, who is now 71, was convicted in 2002 of killing two hunters near his rural Kalamazoo County property in 1990.
Police had previously investigated another man, Thomas Dillard, in connection with the killings. Dillard was a serial killer who had murdered at least five people in Ohio between 1989 and 1992. Initially cleared as a suspect, Titus was later charged after a new team of investigators reviewed the case 12 years later.
Despite no physical evidence connecting him to the murders, Titus was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. However, the University of Michigan’s Innocence Clinic took up his case and made a discovery in the Kalamazoo County sheriff’s office that led to his release. They found a 30-page file discussing Dillard as a possible suspect, and a woman identified Dillard’s car near the murder scene.
The Innocence Clinic successfully argued Titus’ case, and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel acknowledged the “powerful evidence” in support of his release. Investigation Discovery’s Jacinda Davis and “Undisclosed” podcast’s Susan Simpson also helped secure his freedom.
Dillard, the serial killer, pleaded guilty to five counts of first-degree murder and died in prison in 2011. Upon his release, Titus expressed his shock and excitement to walk in the woods again.

Too many are wrongly convicted. This needs to stop! Corruption and deep state is to blame. The real criminals are running the streets and the courts.
There are so many who are convicted of crimes they never committed. Just look at Steven Avery for instance. Steven Avery spent 18 years in prison in Wisconsin for a crime he never did.Steven was in the process of suing the State of Wisconsin for 32 million dollars for his wrongful conviction. Now he has spent the last 18 years in prison for yet another crime he did not commit. The state of Wisconsin is corrupt to the core.
