At least 20 people were killed with over 100 others being wounded in a shooting close to Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday, police stated.
The Las Vegas Police Department stated “one suspect is down” and they do not believe there were any other shooters, according to their Twitter account. The police ended the suspects life in order to stop the shooting. Authorities are now looking for an Asian female named Mary Lou Danley standing 4′ 11″ the shooters companion. There are two vehicles of interest, a Hyundai Tucson, license plate 114B40 and a Chrysler Touring, license plate 19D401.
First respondents and ambulances swarmed in to assist, and the gleaming Vegas strip shut down. Tourists hid out in their hotel rooms. Flights headed into McCarran International Airport had to be held elsewhere.
People outside the casino screamed and ducked as bursts of gunfire crackled in the air.
“We’re going to get trampled if we don’t go,” a bystander is heard saying in a dramatic video of the incident. Confusion appeared to abound as those outside fled the scene with another person saying “it’s fireworks.”
Jake Freeman, a witness, stated he was standing on the rooftop of a hotel nearly when shooting broke out.
“I had a bird’s-eye view” of the shooting, Freeman stated in a phone interview with ABC News. He said he saw “crowds of people running” as people “dropped to the ground.”
“At the moment we didn’t realize that they were being shot,” he stated.
Officials over at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas said that there were at least 20 victims with gunshot wounds. The number grew and the injured toll is now over 100. The hospital didn’t provide information on the conditions of the victims.
“Please avoid heading to the south end of the Strip,” the department stated in a Twitter post early Monday. “Las Vegas Blvd is shut down at Tropicana, southbound past Russell Rd at this time.”

This happened during the final evening of the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival taking place across the street from Mandalay Bay when the shooting happened. One witness stated they heard “nonstop gunfire.”
The Vegas police department says people should stay away from the area. Flights both in and out of the McCarran International Airport in Vegas had to be temporarily halted due to this incident.
