2-Year-Old in Georgia Accidentally Shoots, Kills Father

JONES COUNTY, GEORGIA – A father has died after his 2-year-old accidentally got a hold of a gun and shot and killed him on Thursday, according to 5NewsOnline.com.

Stacy Gardner, the Deputy Coroner said the incident happened at 289 Highway 49.

Gardner said age 28 Jason Fowler died after his toddler managed to get a hold of a gun in the home and fired a shot, hitting Fowler in the back.

There is still an investigation into confirming what happened, but Jones County Sheriff Butch Reese suspects that’s what happened.

At around 9:40 p.m. Jason Fowler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fowler’s family has been notified, Gardner said.

Let this serve as a lesson that lawful gun owners need to keep their firearms in a secure place where children can’t reach them.
